Jo and I have been married almost 20 years. I have lived in Northwest Missouri my entire life. I have been farming since I was 8. I have always loved animals and especially dogs. My life has always been best when we had a dog. Our farm has been in our family for over a hundred years. When we got married Jo and I moved into my grandfather's house. We were fixing up the house one day when my dad brought a labrador by that was in need of a home. Blackie was the first of many dogs in our family. We have always had a dog around the farm from collies to poodles to labradors and golden retrievers.

Right now we have a labrador that is as much a part of our family as our three children. Levi has been with us almost as long as our youngest son and longer than our daughter. He is getting older and slower. We want our kids to love dogs and animals like we do so we decided to find another dog.

Jo worked at a veterinary clinic for 7 years. I think she spent the whole time looking for the perfect dog breed for us. We found it in Golden Retrievers.

Jo tracked down a lead on a Golden Retriever puppy with the help of a friend of a friend. We went on a drive to check out the puppy that Jo had found and our two youngest children fell instantly in love with Lucky. We fought all the way home about what to call our new addition. Lucky kind of stuck. We were lucky to find her. The breeder normally sells all his females first, but this time he had decided to keep Lucky for himself and raise more puppies with her. So we were really lucky to find her.

We had fun with Lucky. We were glad to have her. I was not thinking about breeding her to raise puppies. I was just happy to have her. Jo thought she would be a better dog after having a litter of pups. I had to be convinced. I thought if it was meant to be then it would work out. That is where Duke comes in.

Duke was owned by another of Jo's friends. They were hoping to find somewhere for him to live. They had raised some of his pups and now were wanting to make room. Jo thought that Lucky and Duke would make good parents, so we thought we would give Duke a chance to be a father. The first couple of weeks were tough until Duke decided he liked the farm and wanted to stay. Now he is a part of our farm.

We live on the family farm with our kids and our dogs. Now we want to share our puppies with you.
